Animation Fun Facts for July 2, 2012

UPA director Abe Levitow born. 1935 John Lounsberry's first day at Walt Disney. 1982- Don Bluth’s The Secret of Nimh premiered. 1986- Walt Disney’s The Great Mouse Detective released in theaters. Originally called Basil of Baker Street, the studio changed it's name after the high profile flop of Steven Speilberg's Young Sherlock Holmes. The clockworks sequence is one of the earliest uses of CGI in a Disney film.
